For our first podcast of 2020, we talk to the Venture Valkyrie herself, Lisa Suennen. Lisa is a woman with many side-hustles - with her main gig at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, where she runs a venture fund, she also manages to squeeze in time to write her thought-provoking Venture Valkyrie blog, record her Tech Tonics podcast (which, we admit, is the inspiration behind our own podcast series …) and teach at the Berkeley Haas School of Business.
We learn about Lisa’s unconventional foray into healthcare and venture capitalism, via journalism and political science. We also get Lisa’s take on the recent wave of digital health IPOs, why healthcare investments are difficult and what women need to do to shine in the industry. If that’s not interesting enough, we also find out that Lisa’s dad invented the first real-time ultrasound!
